Problems on Trains question 13
Station Y is 330 km from station X. A train leaves X for Y at 7 AM at 60 km/h. Another train leaves Y for X at 8 AM at 75 km/h. At what time do they meet?
- 11 AM
- 10 AM
- 10:30 AM
- 9 AM
Answer and explanation
Answer: B. 10 AM
Explanation: By 8 AM the first train has covered 60 km, leaving 270 km. Closing speed = 60 + 75 = 135 km/h, so they meet 270 ÷ 135 = 2 hours after 8 AM, at 10 AM.
