Problems on Trains question 30
A 110 m long train passes a man running at 6 km/h in the opposite direction in 6 seconds. How long will it take to pass another man running at 6 km/h in the same direction as the train?
- 7 1/3 seconds
- 7 seconds
- 6 seconds
- 8 seconds
Answer and explanation
Answer: A. 7 1/3 seconds
Explanation: Relative speed (opposite) = 110 ÷ 6 m/s = 66 km/h, so the train runs at 60 km/h. Relative speed (same direction) = 54 km/h = 15 m/s. Time = 110 ÷ 15 = 7 1/3 seconds.
