Puzzles question 6

Seven people A, B, C, D, E, F and G live on different floors of a seven-storey building. The lowest floor is numbered 1 and the top floor 7. Exactly three people live above A. D lives on an odd-numbered floor above A. B lives immediately below D. E lives immediately above A. C lives on an even-numbered floor. G lives immediately above C.
Who lives on floor 1?

  1. E
  2. F
  3. G
  4. C
Answer and explanation

Answer: B. F

Explanation: A is on floor 4. D is on an odd floor above A, so D is on 5 or 7; B is just below D, and floor 4 is taken, so D = 7 and B = 6. E = 5. C must be on floor 2 (the only free even floor) and G on 3, leaving floor 1 for F.
