Seating Arrangement question 30
Five friends Arun, Bhanu, Chandni, Deepak and Esha sit around a circular table at equal distances. Some of them face the centre and the others face away from the centre.
Arun faces the centre. Bhanu sits second to the right of Arun. Chandni sits immediately to the left of Bhanu, and Arun sits immediately to the right of Chandni. Deepak faces the same direction as Chandni. Esha sits immediately to the left of Deepak, and Arun sits immediately to the right of Esha.
How many of the five friends face the centre?
- 3
- 2
- 4
- 1
Answer and explanation
Answer: A. 3
Explanation: Arun faces in, so Bhanu is two seats to his right. Chandni must be in the seat beside both Bhanu and Arun; she is on Bhanu's left only if Bhanu faces in, and Arun is on her right only if she faces out. So Deepak also faces out, with Esha on his left; Arun on Esha's right means Esha faces in. Arun, Bhanu and Esha face the centre: 3 people.
