Percentages question 13
In an examination, 65% of the students passed in Maths, 72% passed in English and 15% failed in both subjects. If 1,300 students passed in both, how many students appeared?
- 2,500
- 2,000
- 2,400
- 2,600
Answer and explanation
Answer: A. 2,500
Explanation: Students passing at least one subject = 85%. Passed both = 65% + 72% − 85% = 52%. So 52% = 1,300 gives total = 2,500.
