Percentages question 15
Fresh grapes contain 90% water by weight while dried grapes contain 20% water. How many kg of dried grapes can be obtained from 40 kg of fresh grapes?
- 4 kg
- 5 kg
- 8 kg
- 10 kg
Answer and explanation
Answer: B. 5 kg
Explanation: The non-water part stays the same: 10% of 40 kg = 4 kg. In dried grapes this is 80% of the weight, so weight = 4 ÷ 0.8 = 5 kg.
