Percentages question 14
Arjun's income is 25% more than Bharat's. Arjun spends 84% of his income and Bharat spends 75% of his. If Bharat saves ₹1,500 more than Arjun, what is Arjun's income?
- ₹30,000
- ₹36,000
- ₹37,500
- ₹40,000
Answer and explanation
Answer: C. ₹37,500
Explanation: Let Bharat's income be x, so Arjun's is 1.25x. Arjun saves 16% of 1.25x = 0.2x; Bharat saves 0.25x. 0.05x = ₹1,500 gives x = ₹30,000, so Arjun earns ₹37,500.
