Syllogisms question 10

Statements:
Some phones are laptops.
No laptop is a tablet.
Conclusions:
I. Some tablets are phones.
II. All phones are tablets.
Assuming the statements to be true, which conclusion(s) logically follow(s)?

  1. Only conclusion I follows
  2. Only conclusion II follows
  3. Both I and II follow
  4. Neither I nor II follows
Answer and explanation

Answer: D. Neither I nor II follows

Explanation: Phones and tablets may or may not overlap, so I does not follow. The phones that are laptops cannot be tablets, so II is definitely false. Neither follows.
