Syllogisms question 12

Statements:
Some doctors are singers.
All singers are dancers.
No dancer is a painter.
Conclusions:
I. Some doctors are not painters.
II. No singer is a painter.
Assuming the statements to be true, which conclusion(s) logically follow(s)?

  1. Only conclusion I follows
  2. Only conclusion II follows
  3. Both I and II follow
  4. Neither I nor II follows
Answer and explanation

Answer: C. Both I and II follow

Explanation: Singers lie inside dancers, which share nothing with painters, so no singer is a painter (II). The doctors who are singers are therefore not painters, so I also follows.
