Puzzles question 26

Six boxes P, Q, R, S, T and U are stacked one above another. S is at the bottom. R is placed immediately above U. Exactly three boxes are placed between P and T. Q is placed immediately below T.
Which box is placed immediately above P?

  1. U
  2. R

  4. Q
Answer and explanation

Answer: A. U

Explanation: From the bottom: S, P, U, R, Q, T. With S at the bottom, P and T (three boxes apart) must be 2nd and 6th; Q sits just below T (5th), and the pair U-R takes the 3rd and 4th places. (P cannot be 6th, because then T would be 2nd and Q would have to be at the bottom.)
