Time & Work question 21

A can do a job in 6 days and B in 8 days. With the help of C, the three of them finish it in 3 days and are paid ₹7,200 in total, shared in proportion to the work each did. What is C's share?

  1. ₹600
  2. ₹900
  3. ₹1,200
  4. ₹2,400
Answer and explanation

Answer: B. ₹900

Explanation: In 3 days A does 3/6 = 1/2 and B does 3/8 of the work, so C does 1 − 1/2 − 3/8 = 1/8. C's share = 7,200 × 1/8 = ₹900.
