Data Sufficiency question 23

Each question has two statements. Decide whether the data in the statements is sufficient to answer the question.
Question: What is the profit percentage on the sale of a watch?
I. The cost price of the watch is ₹500.
II. The marked price of the watch is ₹700.

  1. Statement I alone is sufficient
  2. Statement II alone is sufficient
  3. Both statements together are needed
  4. Both statements together are not sufficient
Answer and explanation

Answer: D. Both statements together are not sufficient

Explanation: To find the profit we need the selling price. The marked price is not necessarily the selling price (a discount may be given), so even both statements together are not sufficient.
