Data Sufficiency question 22

Each question has two statements. Decide whether the data in the statements is sufficient to answer the question.
Question: What is the area of the circle? (Take π = 22/7.)
I. Its circumference is 44 cm.
II. The circle is drawn inside a square.

  1. Statement I alone is sufficient
  2. Statement II alone is sufficient
  3. Both statements together are needed
  4. Both statements together are not sufficient
Answer and explanation

Answer: A. Statement I alone is sufficient

Explanation: From I, 2πr = 44 gives r = 7 cm and area = 22/7 × 49 = 154 cm², so I alone is sufficient. II gives no measurement.
