Syllogisms question 23

Statements:
No actor is a singer.
All singers are dancers.
Conclusions:
I. Some dancers are not actors.
II. No actor is a dancer.
Assuming the statements to be true, which conclusion(s) logically follow(s)?

  1. Only conclusion I follows
  2. Only conclusion II follows
  3. Both I and II follow
  4. Neither I nor II follows
Answer and explanation

Answer: A. Only conclusion I follows

Explanation: Every singer is a dancer and no singer is an actor, so those dancers are not actors (I follows). Actors could still be dancers who are not singers, so II does not follow.
